Root Canals

4 Root Canals and Oral Surgery

If you cringe at the idea of a root canal, you probably have the wrong idea about root canal therapy. Many people mistakenly think root canals cause pain, but that’s not the case. This kind of therapy actually improves your oral health and makes you feel better.

Your teeth have soft inner centers called the pulp or nerve of the tooth. The pulp runs inside the tooth's canal through the root. It takes nutrients to the tooth and removes waste products. The tooth's pulp is its lifeline. A deep cavity, fracture, or trauma can damage a tooth's pulp and make it susceptible to infection. As the infection grows, pressure builds and pain begins. When Dr. Siegel catches the problem early, he may be able to perform a root canal. He'll remove the diseased tissue and seal off the tooth, saving your tooth from extraction and the health issues associated with missing teeth.

Sometimes Dr. Siegel cannot save a tooth, in which case you may need oral surgery to remove the tooth. Dr. Siegel can perform other oral surgery procedures, including wisdom teeth removal, cosmetic gum lifts, and crown lengthening. With minimal sedation (anxiolysis), we will keep you relaxed and comfortable during your root canals and oral surgery procedures.

Don't live with tooth pain. Call our Boca Raton dental office today and make an appointment with Dr. Siegel to discuss root canal therapy. We welcome patients from Palm Beach County, Broward County, and the surrounding areas.
